How will these tests help?
To help understand why you have an unexplained fever, your doctor has ordered a group of tests. We can divide them into two categories
The first group includes Complete Blood Count (CBC), C-Reactive Protein (CRP), Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), Liver Function Tests (LFTs), Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), Rheumatoid Factor (RF), and Antinuclear Antibody (ANA). These tests are used to measure levels of specific proteins and other substances in your blood and detect any inflammation or infection that may be causing your fever
The second group includes a Blood Culture, Urinalysis, and Chest X-ray. These tests will look for any bacteria or other organisms in your blood or urine that could be causing your fever, and the Chest X-ray can provide us with an image of your lungs and chest to look for any signs of infection
Together, these tests will help us to identify the cause of your fever so that we can provide you with the most appropriate treatment.
