How will these tests help?
The group of tests you are about to undergo will help us understand why you are having difficulty urinating or experiencing a need to urinate frequently. First, we will be running a urine culture to check for bacteria and other organisms that may be causing an infection
We will then run a complete blood count to look for signs of infection, inflammation or other causes of your frequent urination. We will also be running a urinalysis to check the levels of various substances in your urine, including the presence of bacteria, white and red blood cells, and other materials
The second group of tests will focus on your kidney and urinary tract functions. We will be running a Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) test to measure the amount of nitrogen in your blood that is a by-product of protein breakdown
We will also be running a Creatinine test to measure the amount of creatinine, which is a by-product of muscle breakdown, in your blood. An Electrolyte panel will measure the levels of various electrolytes in your blood, such as potassium, sodium, and chloride, to check for imbalances
We will also be running a Renal Function Panel to measure the levels of various substances in your blood that reflect kidney function. A Urinary Tract Infection Screening will be performed to check for signs of infection
A Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test may be performed to check for prostate-related issues that may be causing or contributing to your frequent urination. We will also be performing a Cystoscopy to check for any abnormalities in your bladder or urethra that may be contributing to your urination issues
By performing this group of tests, we will be able to gain insight into why you are having difficulty urinating or frequent urination.
