What is AMH(Anti Mullerian Hormone)?
AMH, known as Anti-Müllerian Hormone, is a hormone made by the ovaries. It tells doctors about a woman's ovarian reserve, or how many eggs she has. This is helpful for fertility treatment planning, like IVF, because it helps predict how well her ovaries will respond to treatment.
How is AMH measured?
AMH is measured by drawing a sample of blood from your vein. The sample is transported to the lab and there it is usually analyzed by a variety of automated analyzers.
These analyzers use techniques like EIA, ELISA, or CMIA to detect the AMH levels. These analyzers include the Roche, Beckmann Coulter and Abbott Platforms
With measuring ranges spanning from as low as 0.01 ng/mL up to 23 ng/mL, these systems ensure precise measurement of AMH levels, providing valuable insights into ovarian reserve and fertility potential.
What is the normal range of AMH and how is an AMH of 0.2 graded?
A normal AMH level is usually considered to be between 1.1 and 4 ng/ml. For clinical purposes, AMH is usually recognized as being above or below a cut-off value of 1.1 ng/ml.
