To Prepare for this test:

To prepare for this test, try to collect your first morning stool sample.

Try to avoid eating colored foods, or foods with artificial dyes for a couple of days before the test

Only around 10 grams of stool is required for processing in the lab, do not collect more than this amount

If you are sufferring from constipation, please inform the lab if you use laxatives prior to collecting the sample.

Reduce intake of Vitamin C and raddish, for a few days before collecting the sample, these can cause false positives for blood in your report.

Do not add water or soap to the sample.

Ensure the the sample collection container is tightly capped after you have collected the sample.

Do not scrape stool off the bottom of the toilet and add it into the container, as this can lead to grossly erroneous results

Avoid contaminating the sample with urine, or menses as this can lead to a false positive for blood in the results.
