Overview

Prostate Profile is a series of laboratory tests performed to evaluate the health of the prostate gland. The tests may include PSA (prostate-specific antigen), testosterone, and a complete blood count. The PSA test measures the level of PSA in the blood, which can be a sign of prostate cancer or other prostate conditions. The tests are performed on a blood sample taken from the patients arm.

Who should do this test?

Men over the age of 50: Prostate cancer is most commonly diagnosed in men over the age of 50. Therefore, it is recommended that men in this age group undergo regular prostate profile testing to monitor for any signs of prostate cancer.

Men with a family history of prostate cancer: Men with a family history of prostate cancer are at an increased risk of developing the disease. Therefore, it is recommended that they undergo regular prostate profile testing as a preventative measure.

Men with symptoms of prostate problems: Men who experience symptoms such as difficulty urinating, frequent urination, or blood in the urine may have prostate problems. Prostate profile testing can help diagnose the underlying issue and determine the appropriate treatment plan.

What to do if the test is abnormal?
