Who should do this test?

The Weil Felix test is a relatively old and non-specific test for Typhus, and Rickettsial infections in general. The patient usually has high fever and there is a history of flea bites.. The test has a very low specificity and is known to give false negatives and false positives. . This test has been discontinued in most Western Countries for these reasons, and is superseeded by advanced techniques of indirect immunofluorescence.. We do not recommend this test, unless advised by a doctor and the report will contain a list of shortcomings of the test in the footnote. The test is not diagnostic or conclusive.
