Antibiotic sensitivity tests are used to determine which antibiotics will effectively treat bacterial infections. A sample of the bacteria is taken from the patient and grown in a lab. Then, small disks containing different antibiotics are placed on the bacterial culture. After incubation, the size of the zone of inhibition around each disk is measured to determine which antibiotics are most effective against the bacteria.

Who should do this test?
