The test for malarial parasite consists of a rapid test kit (RAT). This test kit provides a result within 15-20 minutes of adding the sample. The test is performed by a trained technician and the result is interpreted by a qualified pathologist.

Test for dengue involves an additional step of first allowing the blood sample to clot. Once the clotting is completed, the clear portion of the blood is added to another Rapid Antigen cum Antibody Test Kit. The results can be read after 30-45 minutes.

What is Dengue NS1 test?

The dengue NS1 test is a test for the dengue antigen/germ in your blood. This test is positive from day 1 of the fever all the way to day 5-7. The test takes only about 20-30 minutes to perform and reports should be available in less than 1 hour. Dengue NS1 is the name of the dengue viral antigen. Our rapid Antigen Test detects the NS1 antigen. The report is available within 30 minutes. The NS1 antigen is usually positive from Day 1 of the fever upto Day 5. After Day 5 it may become negative.

Dengue IgM

Dengue IgM is another antibody created by your body to fight against dengue virus. It is usually detectable by the 7th day of the infection. It stays positive for around 2-3 weeks. It is an indication of a recent infection.

Malaria test is usually called "MP - Malarial Parasite" or "RMT - Rapid Malarial Test". The test is done using a Rapid Antigen Kit. The results should be available within 30 minutes.

Diagnostic Test for malaria

MP or Rapid Malrial Test is a screening test for malaria. Together with examination of the blood film also known as peripheral blood smear, it can give a reasonable idea of whether or not the patient is positive for malaria.

WBC Count in Dengue

The total WBC count falls in dengue. Usually the total count goes below the lower level of normal or very close to the lower level. It is usually between 2400 and 5000 /cumm. This is a normal response to many viral infections.
