Frequently Asked Questions

HIV-1-RNA test can detect the presence of HIV as early as 12 days, but sensitivty is excellent after 3-4 weeks. Hepatitis B DNA test can detect Hepatitis B after 2 weeks of infection. Hepatitis C RNA Test can detect Hepatitis C after 2 weeks of infection. For each test, sensitivity improves by the end of 1 month.

PCR Tests are molecular tests, which try to find the virus DNA/RNA and are able to detect the smallest quantities of the virus. 4th generation tests detect viral antigens, but they need a higher amount of virus to be present for effective detection.

For each test, the report will contain the words 'Target Not Detected' (which means that the viral dna/rna was not detected). Positive or negative is not mentioned in the report.

A positive test result, will need to be confirmed with another sample. Please note that charges of repeat test will apply and the repeat test charges are not included in the package costs.

For post-test counselling, in case of a positive result, we will refer you to an infectious disease specialist. Please note that their charges are seperate and variable and you can decide which specialist you want to consult after contacting them.
