The group of tests that has been ordered will help us understand why you have been feeling a decreased desire to eat. The tests can be grouped into two categories based on their diagnostic value
The first group contains the Complete Blood Count (CBC), Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), Liver Function Tests (LFTs), Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR), Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), C-reactive Protein (CRP), and Serum Iron and Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC). These tests will provide us with an overview of your overall health, and help us determine if any underlying medical condition is causing your decreased appetite
The second group contains the Vitamin B12 and Folate, Urinalysis, and Fecal Fat Analysis. These tests will help us identify any deficiencies in vitamins or minerals that may be causing your decreased appetite, as well as any gastrointestinal issues that may be contributing to your loss of appetite
Together, these tests will help us understand why you have been feeling a lack of hunger, anorexia, or any other symptom associated with a decreased appetite.
